Q: Do I still get to use my
email@mydomain.com?
A: Yes.
Q: Do I need to change settings in my outlook/eudora/netscape?
A: Yes. You will be using a completely different
mail server.
Q: Can I increase the number of pop3 accounts in the
future?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I forward email?
A: Yes.
Q: Do I have to
filter all email accounts on my domain or can I choose?
A: You mean, you have 15 pop3 email accounts, but only 3
of them "really" get a lot of spam on them? And you
only want to filter those and not the other 12?
Yes. There are some differences when doing it that
way. You will be given email address like:
yourdomain1@stormerantispam.net and so on...
Your email accounts you have now will be forwarded to that
account. All you need do is simply change the
incoming mail server and your user/pass and you can have
filtered email. The biggest difference is you won't
have access to a control panel or a spam quarantine or
webmail @yourdomain.com. However... High scoring
spam will be deleted. Viruses will be deleted.
Low scoring spam will continue to be delivered but with
the subject line prepended with {Spam?}. You can
then use mail filter rules on your local machine to put
those types of emails into a separate folder under your
inbox.
Q: Will I have a control panel and webmail?
A: Yes. (but only if your entire domain is filtering spam)
If your just filtering a few pop3 email accounts on your
domain and not the rest, you won't have a control panel.
Q: Can I setup whitelist/blacklist?
A: Yes if your entire domain is being filtered. If
just a few pop3, then you do not.
Q: Do I have to host my domain name with you to use your
spam filtering?
A: Nope.
Q: What will the MX dns record be?
A: mail.stormerantispam.com. (there's another "dot"
after the ".com.". You may not have
to worry about this MX record if your only filtering a
"few" of your many pop3 email accounts.
Q: Can I determine "where" my filtered spam goes?
A: Yes if your entire domain is being filtered. Spam is divided into two categories.
High scoring spam and low scoring spam. The high
scoring spam is deleted. (but you can change that).
Low scoring spam is usually quarantined. (but you can
change that too!). You can make it so "all"
spam is delivered and then just the subject line will be prepended with {Spam?} if it's low scoring spam or
{Definitely Spam?} if it's high scoring spam.
Viruses are just deleted. But, yes, you can choose
to have those delivered too. (umm.. not recommended).
Q: Will this stop 100% of all spam and viruses?
A: No. Nothing is perfect. (except God).
This will stop 98% of all spam and block nearly all
viruses. Common and old viruses 100%.
Brand new viruses that breakout within a 12 hour window,
if your lucky (umm.. unlucky) and you get this particular
virus, you got it. Go see the doctor! You
should "never" get on the internet without a locally
installed anti virus/firewall software program. I
think that was a disclaimer? Those programs can push out
an update "instantly" when a new threat is discovered.
Q: What if I don't use pop3 and only want to forward my
email?
A: No problem. You can have as many "internal"
forwarders as you like. This would be forwarders
that go to other pop3 accounts located on this server.
for example, someone might have sales@ as a pop3, but want
info@ and feedback@ to "forward" to that address.
For "external" forwarders that forward to say your @sbcglobal
or @aol or other isp email address, those should be
counted as 1 pop for every "2" forwarders. (for ordering
purposes)
Q: Why? I don't use pop3, I only forward!
A: Forwarder or pop3, both consume the same amount
of "energy" to filter for spam.
Q: Can I start my own "get your spam filtered @mydomain"
using your server?
A: No. That would be considered abuse and theft of
the mail server's resources. Be fair! If you need to
forward email to offsite email addresses, no problem.
For every 2 that you forward, count "1" pop3 account for
ordering purposes, ok?
Q: Will you look at my existing account and tell me if I
need to order less or more?
A: Yes. If you only order 1 pop3 account, but I go
look on the existing server and you have 35+ email
accounts and a zillion forwarders, expect to pay more if
you wish to filter these emails.
Q: Can I send out large bulk emails to my customers?
A: No. Why do you think your wanting anti spam?
This server should only be used for normal day to day
email communications. Sending out mass emails
(hundreds of folks in your TO:/CC:/BCC:) should never be
done on this server. Doing so will be considered
abuse.
Q: Do you have any competitors? (silly question, but
I know you were thinking it)
A: Yes. Here's a handy
link to 15 other
competitors.
Q: Why in the world did you just link to your
competitors!??
A: You need to make an informed decision! Go ahead,
kick the tires. Go look around. Many of those sites
offer a free demo/evaluation period. You think this is the
only anti spam service in the world? I don't claim
to be the best. I just know it works and I ( James
Hart ) personally use it myself!
Q: Do you offer a refund?
A: Nope.
Q: Why not?
A: Go look at the
competitors. You have the right to choose
anyone else. Why did you choose Stormer?
(for refund ability? doubtful!) Your probably
choosing it because you know the service is going to be
great. If you have a problem, you can always call or
write.
Q: Ok, Ok, enough, how do I sign up?
A: Fill out the simple form here.
